JAYAPURA AIRPORT. Jayapura is the capital of Irian / Papua province, connected with daily flights from JAKARTA, BALI and other major cities in Indonesia.

Our trip to Baliem Valley is a journey into a deeper reality. We will take you passing through the so-called stone age cultures and way of live of the ferocious- looking yet friendly Dani and Yali tribesmen in their spectacular highland.
We will trekking up down the hill (some days could be 6 hours trekking) to their villages to discover their primitive ways of life, complex social organization and agricultural system as well as considerable engineering skill in constructing their suspension bridges and homes.
You will be stucked to see the men dressing solely in a the "koteka" or penis gourd, with pig teeth pushed through their noses and their bodies decorated in clay-and-grease warpaint, while the women wear the grass skirt. They are, however, extremely fond of body ornamentation and decorate themselves elaborately with feathers and shells, especially for celebrations.
They will welcome you in inevitable pig-feast which will be your rite of passage into their unique culture for an engrossing a four or five hour intense experience. You will find yourself in a simple, traditional compound surrounded by fully greased and painted Dani tribes-people wearing their ceremonial best dresses.
Our trips into the Baliem Valley start from Jayapura, the provincial city of Papua Irian Province where you will be assisted by our guide team for connecting flight to Wamena, the entry point to explore the Baliem Valley.
DAY 01: JAYAPURA ? WAMENA
Arrive on morning flight in Jayapura airport. Proceed with local flight to Wamena. Touring around Wamena town. Overnight at hotel (L,D).
DAY 02: WAMENA - JIWIKA - WAMENA
Drive to Jiwika Village to see the Dani women collecting salt using traditional way. Proceed walking down hill to see the old mummy at Sumpaima. Continue to see the bones of victims of past tribal war in Kontilola Cave. Bacl to Wamena with stop at local market. Overnight at hotel (B,L,D).
DAY 03: WAMENA - AIKIMA - WAMENA
Drive to Aikima Village and proceed trekking Suroba to enjoy the mocked war and traditional Earth Oven Cooking and also to observe their way of life. Back to Wamena for overnight at hotel (B,L,D).
DAY 04: WAMENA ? JAYAPURA
Fly back to Jayapura. Sightseeing in Jayapura visiting Mc. Arthur Memorial Hill/WW II Memorial Sites, Lake Sentani, anthropology mseum, Hamadi Market. Overnight at hotel near the airport (B, L, D).
DAY 05: JAYAPURA DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport for flight to the next destination (B).
DAY 01: JAYAPURA ? WAMENA
Arrive on morning flight in Jayapura airport. Proceed with local flight to Wamena. Touring around Wamena town. Overnight at hotel (L,D).
DAY 02: WAMENA ? SOGOKMO - KURIMA - KILISE
Drive to Sogokmo to start trekking to Kurima and then uphill to Kilise. En route meet the Dani people and enjoy the stunning view of Baliem Valley. Afternoon explore the Kilise village to observe their way of life. Overnight in simple guest house (B,L,D).
DAY 03: KILISE ? SYOKOSIMO
Descend the steep hill down crossing traditional hanging bridge across Baliem River, slippery and narrow trails, waterfall to reach Syokosimo. Overnight at simple house of local teacher (B,L,D).
DAY 04: SYOKOSIMO ? HITUGI
Start trekking up the gill to Hitugi while enjoying incredibly beautiful scenery of the landscape, small villages and local people working in the field. Afternoon explore the Hitugi village to observe their way of life. Overnight at simple local guest house (B,L,D).
DAY 05: HITUGI ? KURIMA ? SOGOKMO ? WAMENA
Long but enjoyful trekking passing beautiful valley and Kurima village. Proceed by car to Wamena. Overnight at hotel in Wamena (B,L,D).
DAY 06: WAMENA ? JIWIKA ? WAMENA
Driving north to Jiwika to see the old smoked mummy, explore the village or trekking up the Mili mountain where salt pool exists on top and enjoy the mocked war and traditional Earth Oven Cooking. Back to Wamena (B,L,D).
DAY 07: WAMENA ? JAYAPURA
Fly back to Jayapura. Sightseeing in Jayapura visiting Mc. Arthur Memorial Hill/WW II Memorial Sites, Lake Sentani, anthropology mseum, Hamadi Market. Overnight at hotel near the airport (B,L,D).
DAY 08: JAYAPURA DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport for flight to the next destination (B).

DAY 04: WUSEREM ? PUKAM
Continue trekking to Pukam Village up and down the hills and river and small rain forest. Overnight at teacher's house (B,L,D).
DAY 05: PUKAM ? WESAGELEP
Proceed to Wesagelep, a village located over the mountain, passing small rain forest and sweet potatoes fields. Overnight at teacher's house (B,L,D).
DAY 06: WESAGELEP ? TANGMA
Head to Tangma. Descending down a steep hill all the way down to Baliem Valley gorge with spectacular scenery, gentle local people and beautiful terraced of sweet potatoes fields and crossing hanging bridge. Overnight in simple guest house of the local Christian Priest (B,L,D).
DAY 07: TANGMA ? KURIMA ? SOGOKMO ? WAMENA
The last day of exciting trekking to Sogokmo, up the Hesegem Mountain and down to Kurima before arriving Sogokmo. Drive to Wamena for overnight at hotel (B,L,D).
DAY 08: WAMENA - JIWIKA - WAMENA
Driving north to Jiwika to see the old smoked mummy, explore the village or trekking up the Mili mountain where salt pool exists on top and enjoy the mocked war and traditional Earth Oven Cooking. Back to Wamena (B,L,D).

DAY 02: WAMENA ? KOSAREK
Depart by charter flight to Kosarek, the home for Yali tribe. Explore the area surroundings. Overnight at Missionary Guest House (B,L,D).
DAY 03: KOSAREK ? NOHOMAS ? ULDAM
Short trekking to Nohomas ? the largest village in Kosarek and explore the traditional life of the Yali. Proceed to Uldam passing the hilly terrains. Overnight at church or local house (B,L,D).
DAY 04: ULDAM ? SERKASI
Proceed trekking up to Serkasi passing a steep section of Kosarek hills to enjoy the spectacular views of this highland mountain and the surrounding forest. Overnight at head's village house or church (B,L,D).
DAY 05: SERKASI ? HOMBUGA - KOSAREK
Trekking to Kosarek via Hombuga through steep trail and sweet potato garden. Overnight at villager's house in Kosarek (B,L,D).
DAY 06: KOSAREK ? WAMENA ? JAYAPURA (B,L,D)
After breakfast, waiting the charter flight back to Wamena. Once we arrive at the Wamena Airport, catch the regular flight to Jayapura. Check in to Sentani Indah Hotel. The rest of the day will do sightseeing tour.
DAY 07: JAYAPURA AIRPORT ? OUT
After breakfast at hotel, transfer to Sentani airport for your flight departure to the next destination. (B)
DAY 01: JAYAPURA ? WAMENA
Arrive on morning flight in Jayapura airport. Proceed with local flight to Wamena. Touring around Wamena town. Overnight at hotel (L,D).
DAY 02: WAMENA ? KOSAREK - SERKASI
Depart by charter flight to Kosarek, the home for Yali tribe. Proceed trekking to Serkasi Village, the Yali compound on challenging trails, steep rocky hills, and rivers with no bridge to get across. Overnight and dinner at missionary or villagers' house (B,L,D).
DAY 03: SERKASI ? PIMOHON
Continue half day trekking to Pimohon Village through the mountainous rain forest mountain. Overnight and dinner at missionary or villagers' house (B,L,D).
DAY 04: PIMOHON ? TELAMBELA
Experience the Traditional Yali's Pig Feast and War Dance in Pimohon. Proceed to Tambela. Overnight and dinner at missionary or villagers' house (B,L,D).
DAY 05: TELAMBELA ? MEMBAHAM
Trekking to Membaham passing the amazing scenery and river. Overnight and dinner at missionary or villagers' house (B,L,D).
DAY 06: MEMBAHAM ? HELARIKI
Antoher trekking day to reach Helariki, a border village between Angguruk and Kosarek. The trail is up and down the hills but yet the panorama is very spectacular, with traditional villages and the people to meet. Overnight at local school in Helariki (B,L,D).

DAY 07: HELARIKI ? ANGGURUK
Last day of trekking. Descend the steep river bank down to Yahuli's River and crossing a wooden bridge to reach the Angguruk, the sub district of Yali region. Overnight at missionary or villagers' house (B,L,D).
DAY 08: ANGGURUK
Relaxing day in angguruk. Overnight at missionary or villager's house (B,L,D).
DAY 09: ANGGURUK ? WAMENA
Leracing the Yali Tribes settlement by Missionary Charter Plane to Wamena. Overnight at as hotel in Wamena (B,L,D).
DAY 10: WAMENA - JIWIKA - WAMENA
